Summer thoughts (PPAC #68)

Here is some early morning public art for you. These butterflies make me think of summer on a cold morning.

Note: Taken when waiting in traffic.

On Wednesday morning I dropped off my husband and Lana at the airport. They’re going to Massachusetts for the week to visit an old friend. I think he’s been living there for the past decade. We’ve been meaning to visit that part of the U.S. for some time. He even has a kid who is Lana’s age.

I have to emphasize how early I had to wake up to drop them off. We left the house for the airport at 2:30 AM. I came back home at 3:30 AM and went back to bed and woke up at 6:30 AM. I woke up freaking out about how I overslept. I wasn’t late for anything. I just wasn’t used to waking up at 6:30 AM on a weekday.

It’s been kind of strange being kid-free. I still wake up at my usual 5:30 AM time to walk Teddy and Koda around the neighborhood. Afterward, I make my coffee and pack my work lunch and I see it’s just 6 AM. Usually, at 6 AM I would open Lana’s door and turn on the lights so she can ease into starting her day (this method does not always work).

Easily I’ve been keeping myself busy. I would have thought I’d be the type to sit in front of the TV every evening but I’ve been occupied with packing for my trip this Saturday, killing the ivy in my backyard, caring for my plants before I leave, prepping for my coworker’s baby shower, and working on my side hustle. I’ve only exercised once all week.
