To make my 52 Hike Challenge more exciting, I’ve been joining social media groups for support, information sharing, and inspiration. One of the hiking social media groups, I am part of is called Girls Who Hike LA (GWHLA). It’s a wonderful supportive group of girls who just as passionate about the outdoors as I am. Through this, I discovered other hiking trails all throughout Los Angeles and beyond, tips on hiking and equipment, special events, and hiking related news.
In March, GWHLA held a challenge called the City Slicker Challenge, a 60-day challenge to complete 12 trails totalling 60 miles. The first 60 participants who complete the challenge qualifies for a raffle for $1000 dollars. Spoiler alert: I came in 20th place, but I did not win the $1000.
The first day of the challenge started on March 1st and ended on April 30th. When the challenge officially started, we received the set list of the 12 hikes we had to complete over the 60 days. This was to prevent cheating of course.
To start off the hike, I decided to complete the Tonga Peak/Beaudry loop. I think so far and to this day, it’s somwhere in the top 10 hikes in LA.
Because of all the rain California received the past few weeks, there’s been loads of flowers — that’s enough to motivate me to go outside!
This looks lovely! I love those yellow flowers. 😀

Wow! These photos are so beautiful! I love all of the color in the flowers! It is still cold in Chicago but hopefully we will start getting some spring colors and warmer weather! Is the rainy season in LA similar to Florida where it rains everyday at a certain time? Also, Congrats on that 60 miles! Although you didn’t win, I am sure it was a fun way to challenge yourself!

Thank you. Actually this year we’ve been experiencing higher than normal rain. We’ve been in a drought for a few years until this year its been raining buckets. It’s pretty nice.
